The Hesters Way Partnership will be holding its AGM on Monday 29th November from 5.30pm at which we will be celebrating the successes of the year and showcasing our work.
HWP have been producing the Viewpoint magazine for many years and hope that it reflects the great work done by local residents and organisations to make west Cheltenham a better place to live. However, you may not know if the other work that HWP does. So we thought we’d give a quick run down of a few of our activities.
Since 1997, when HWP was formed, a key area of work has been on children and young people, after all they are the future so we need to support them as much as we can. To that end we have run a support group for local organisations which aims to share information and knowledge and to encourage collaborative work. Over the years we have constructed the MUGA at Oasis, run sports coaching sessions in the parks and art projects including the street art and murals plus the story chair at the library.
We also run a regular Neighbourhood Coordination and the Hesters Way Forum meetings with the help of local police officers, PCSOs and Borough Councillors. We share information about issues raised by community members and pool our resources to help resolve them.
Recently HWP has set up the West Cheltenham Community Pantry with the aim of supporting residents who find themselves in financial difficulties. The project got underway in November and will be providing much needed food and household items to members.
